A wildfire has been burning out of control for the sixth consecutive day in a forested area in a remote part of Trapezitsa, Konitsa. Flares-up, fueled in part by the winds, are constant, with the fire department reinforcing its ground and aerial forces.
On the ground, 150 firefighters, six forest firefighting teams, and 48 fire trucks have been mobilized on the ground, while 12 aerial vehicles—including eight aircraft and four helicopters—are operating from the air.
Due to the flare-ups, civil protection authorities issued a 112 alert urging citizens to remain indoors and close doors and windows because of the thick smoke.
In addition, the message urges residents of surrounding areas to remain on alert and follow the authorities’ instructions.

According to epiruspost, the Municipality of Konitsa announced that the Civil Protection mechanism is on full alert, calling on citizens to remain calm and avoid any unnecessary travel toward the fire area.
Authorities recommend that those with respiratory or heart conditions take special precautions, urging them to remain in tightly sealed rooms, with air conditioning set to recirculation mode, or to leave the area promptly, if possible.
At the same time, citizens are urged not to head toward the fire front and not to park vehicles on narrow streets, so that access routes for fire trucks remain clear.
The high temperatures prevailing in the area keep the risk of new flare-ups at high levels, with firefighting crews continuing their battle to contain the fire.
