A particularly moving story of perseverance and teamwork has come to light at the 2nd Evening Vocational High School of Volos, where a couple has proven that the desire to learn knows no age or professional boundaries.

Theophilos Kanellos, an active-duty Air Force officer nearing the end of his career and preparing for retirement, decided to return to the classroom.

By his side on this journey was his wife, Danielia-Apostolia Makri, who shared the same goal, the same demands, and the same daily effort with him.

As reported by the local website taxydromos.gr, their joint enrollment at the 2nd Evening Vocational High School of Volos culminated in an impressive success: in the Panhellenic Exams, they scored 16,300 and 16,240 points, respectively, in the Economics section, results that bring them very close to admission to the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaly.

Mr. Kanellos noted that his wife was initially the main source of inspiration for this major step. Along the way, the endeavor became a shared goal, with the two of them proving in practice that determination, organization, and mutual support can overcome the demands of work, daily life, and family obligations.

“We want to show that dreams and knowledge know no age. With perseverance, proper organization, and faith in ourselves, anything can become a reality. It’s never too late to pursue a goal and start something new. “However, our greatest achievement is our family, our children, and everything we’ve built together with love, respect, and mutual support,” is the message they want to convey through their local website.
