Thriller in Greece: Police Officer Found Dead Inside a Patrol Car

What his girlfriend testified, and how the cell phone's location led to his discovery
ALPHANEWSLIVE

Investigations are in full swing into the death of the 38-year-old police officer, who was found dead inside a standard police vehicle in Agios Dimitrios, with authorities examining all possibilities.

The police officer, who served in the Athens Patrol Sub-Directorate, was found in the passenger seat of the locked vehicle at the intersection of Pikrodafnis and Vouliagmenis Streets.

Particular attention is being paid to the findings on his body. According to the information available so far, he had abrasions on his neck and bruises on his hands—evidence that investigators are examining closely to determine how they were caused and whether they are linked to his death.

The evidence under scrutiny

The fact that the police officer was found in the passenger seat, combined with the fact that the car was locked, as well as the marks found on his body, paint a picture that the relevant authorities are now tasked with deciphering.

A medical examiner and officials from various police departments, including the Security Division and the Organized Crime Division, rushed to the scene. The on-site investigation was completed shortly before 4 a.m.

The forensic examination and the remaining laboratory findings are expected to be crucial in clarifying the case, which will help determine the causes and exact circumstances of the death.

The cell phone that remained active

A key piece of evidence in the police search was his cell phone, which remained active.

During the investigation, it was determined that the phone was transmitting a signal via a cell tower in the broader area of Agios Dimitrios.

The search focused on that area, and the 38-year-old was eventually found dead inside his standard-issue police vehicle.

His Disappearance and His Partner’s Statement

His disappearance was reported yesterday (August 10) at approximately 9:00 p.m. at the Acropolis Police Station, as, she reported, she had not heard from him since around 10:30 p.m. the previous day.

The police officer was supposed to report for duty that morning, which did not happen.

According to what his partner reportedly stated, the 38-year-old had no health issues, and there had been no argument between them before he went missing.

She initially thought he had left for work, since, as she noted, he would sometimes be away and return home the next morning.

The Key Questions

The investigation is now focusing on the final hours before the police officer’s death and the circumstances under which he was found inside the vehicle.

Authorities are attempting to determine, among other things, how the abrasions on his neck and the bruises on his hands were caused, why he was in the passenger seat, who was the last person he contacted, and what his movements were from the moment he went missing until he was located.

The findings from the forensic examination, combined with the other evidence gathered from the car and the surrounding area, are expected to shed more light on the case and indicate the direction the investigation will take.
