An unimaginable tragedy unfolded late at night on the road in the Ano Liosia area, where a 17-year-old girl lost her life when the car she was riding in veered off and crashed into a pole.
The accident occurred shortly after 1 a.m. when the driver of a red passenger car, traveling on Fyli Avenue from Chasia toward Ano Liosia, lost—for reasons unknown at this time—lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off course, mount the sidewalk, and collide with a streetlight pole, which it actually knocked over.
From the red SUV, which was carrying a total of five people, the 17-year-old was pulled out dead, while the remaining four were transported by EKAV ambulances to hospitals, with three being treated for minor injuries.
The impact was so severe that the vehicle was reduced to a mangled heap of metal, while plastic parts were hurled 20 meters away from the utility pole, which bent and fell to theground.
The relevant Traffic Police department is conducting a preliminary investigation into the exact circumstances of the accident.
