The situation regarding the fire that broke out earlier on Saturday afternoon (September 5) in a forested area near Tanagra in Boeotia has improved, following the crash of a Phantom aircraft during Athens Flying Week.

The fire spread through the forest immediately after the incident involving the Air Force aircraft. According to information available so far, the aircraft crashed near a company facility.
At the same time, an alert was issued via 112, calling on citizens to remain on alert.
The Fire Department’s Operations Center was notified of the incident at approximately 3:00 p.m., and a large-scale firefighting operation was immediately launched, as the area is at very high risk of fire.
Authorities have closed the service road of the New Athens–Lamia National Highway and the Oinoi provincial road to traffic due to the fire. Traffic has been halted at the Oinoi area to facilitate the work of the fire department and ensure the safety of drivers.
Large-scale Fire Department Mobilization
Firefighting forces include a total of 115 firefighters, 3 foot patrol teams, and 36 fire trucks.

Meanwhile, 9 firefighting aircraft and 4 helicopters have been deployed to fight the fire from the air, one of which is coordinating the operation.
