The “path” taken by the explosive device that detonated yesterday, Wednesday (October 21) in the apartment building in Kolonos, injuring four people, including two police officers, is being investigated by Homicide Division officials handling the case.
Based on evidence and witness statements, are trying to identify the person or persons who left the bag containing the device and the drugs on the premises of the apartment building, thereby seriously endangering the lives of civilians.
An investigation at the site of the explosion uncovered narcotics, a precision scale, as well as the explosive device with a detonator, a remote control, and a low-power explosive.

Police believe the most likely scenario is that this is a drug-related case involving criminals who wanted to “secure” the drugs with additional “safety measures.”
The bag was initially discovered by the apartment building manager, who opened it, saw the drugs, and called the authorities.
Police officers rushed to the scene, and when one of them opened the bag and examined its contents, the mechanism was triggered, causing an explosion.
The evidence was sent to the Criminal Investigations Division for further examination to determine the exact configuration of the device and how it was triggered, in order to possiblydeceive the recipient of the bag.
Photographic evidence presented yesterday by protothema.gr shows the site of the explosion as well as the control panel with the trigger button for the detonation mechanism.

The police officer who opened the bag was transported to 401 Hospital, where he underwent surgery, while his colleague and the two civilians—including the building manager—were taken to Evangelismos Hospital. No one’s life is in danger.
