The website thestival has published a video capturing the moment of the explosion at the Aphrodite Nestora apartment building.

The arson attacks took place over the course of about 17 minutes in the early hours of Wednesday morning, targeting the homes of New Democracy officials. One attack took place at the home of the chairman of the New Democracy Thessaloniki Executive Committee, Zisis Ioakeimovich, former Member of Parliament Savvas Anastasiadis, and former New Democracy candidate Afroditi Nestora.

In the latest attack, Ms. Nestora’s mother was seriously injured and died a few hours later at the hospital.

Authorities have launched a manhunt to locate the perpetrators. There are at least three individuals who were riding on two motorcycles.

“The Counterterrorism Service knows very well where to focus its investigations. What I can tell you at this moment is that they are gathering evidence from the wider area surrounding the three attack sites. We are also awaiting results from the Criminal Investigation Division; as you can understand, every piece of evidence is important. So far, our colleagues have determined that at least three individuals are involved, though no perpetrator has been identified. They believe that all three individuals are involved in all three cases. “The incendiary device is the same in all three cases; they believe the same individuals are involved,” said Hellenic Police spokesperson Konstantia Dimoglidou on ERT.

“I believe our colleagues have made significant progress in the investigation. We will have immediate results in the coming hours and days,” Ms. Dimoglidou emphasized.
