With tears in their eyes and prolonged applause, thousands of fans, relatives, friends, and colleagues bid farewell to Giorgos Mazonakis as his body was carried out of the Holy Trinity Church in Nikaia following the conclusion of the funeral service.
The great artist was taken to his final resting place, at Cemetery C, where the burial is taking place in the presence of close family members, although it should be noted that a large crowd has already gathered there.

The funeral service took place in an emotional atmosphere, with the church, the courtyard, and the streets flooded with citizens who came to bid farewell to the great artist.
The public viewing, which began on Sunday evening, concluded at 12:00 p.m. on Monday.

Fans had been leaving flowers earlier, while the artist’s songs played in the courtyard; they said their final “goodbye,” even dancing the zeibekiko in the streets outside the church.

A massive crowd filled the streets of Nikaia from early Sunday afternoon, as thousands of Giorgos Mazonakis’s fans sang the artist’s greatest hits.
The crowds continued into the early hours of Monday morning, with wreaths “flooding” the church courtyard.
There were moments of deep emotion at the Holy Trinity Church in Nikaia when the great singer’s body arrived at the church, with thousands of people welcoming him with prolonged applause, songs, and by throwing flowers.
When the body reached the church entrance, the crowd shouted “immortal” in honor of the singer.
