Thousands of people are waiting patiently at the Holy Church of the Holy Trinity in Nikaia to pay their last respects to Giorgos Mazonakis.
The family chose the Holy Trinity Church because it is the parish where, as a child, the singer would dress up as a little priest and chant.

The body of the beloved artist, who passed away at the age of 54 on September 9, arrived at the church at 7:30 p.m., with car stereos playing “Ores Mikres” and the crowd showering the car carrying him with flowers, overcome with emotion.

Just before the body was carried into the church, the gathered crowd chanted “immortal” for Giorgos Mazonakis.

The memorial service began shortly after 7:30 p.m., and the public viewing began immediately afterward.
Some of those gathered felt faint and fainted due to the heat and the emotional turmoil, while an ambulance was on site to provide first aid.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow at noon in the same church, with the public in attendance, and only the burial at the Third Cemetery will take place among close family members.
Since early this afternoon, the streets of Nikaia have been packed with people, as the singer’s fans have been arriving from all over Greece to say goodbye to their beloved singer.
Meanwhile, for hours now, the singer’s fans and colleagues have been singing along to his greatest hits, such as “You Are My Last Mistake” and “Short Hours.”
