In an emotionally charged atmosphere, the final farewell to Giorgos Mazonakis.
In the presence of thousands of fans, friends, relatives, and colleagues, the funeral service for the great artist was held at Agia Triada Church in Nikaia, where Giorgos Mazonakis used to dress up as a little priest when he was a child.
Grief and emotion are evident on their faces, with the church and the courtyard packed to capacity.
The public vigil, which began on Sunday evening, concluded at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, and following the funeral service, the burial will take place in the presence of close family members at the Third Cemetery.

Fans had been leaving flowers earlier, while songs by the artist played in the courtyard; they said their final “goodbye,” even dancing the zeibekiko in the streets outside the church.

A massive crowd filled the streets of Nikaia from early Sunday afternoon, as thousands of Giorgos Mazonakis’s fans sang the artist’s greatest hits.
The crowds continued into the early hours of Monday morning, with wreaths “flooding” the church courtyard.
There were moments of deep emotion at the Holy Trinity Church in Nikaia when the great singer’s remains arrived at the church, with thousands of people welcoming him with prolonged applause, songs, and by throwing flowers.
When the body reached the entrance of the church, the crowd shouted “immortal” in honor of the singer.
