An elderly woman in Patras fell victim to a telephone scam; the perpetrators threatened to kill her, steal cash and jewelry worth a total of 28,000 euros.
According to tempo24, the scam targeting the 91-year-old woman took place yesterday (August 18) when the ruthless perpetrators contacted her by phone.
The scammers allegedly threatened to kill her if she did not gather all the money and valuables she had in her home.

Subsequently, another person contacted her, posing as a police officer.
He claimed that the authorities were allegedly tracking a ring that defrauds the elderly and that she should gather her money and valuables and hand them over to the police.
The 91-year-old was convinced and, as instructed by the “police officer,” left a bag containing 8,000 euros and valuables worth 20,000 euros under a trash can.
The perpetrators passed by the spot, took the bag, and disappeared.
The police are investigating the case and searching for the perpetrators.
Fraud in Aigio Under the Pretext of an Accountant
An elderly person in Aigio fell victim to a scam when an unknown individual reportedly contacted him, posing as an accountant.
The perpetrator managed to swindle approximately 5,000 euros from the victim.
The incident was reported to the relevant authorities, who are investigating the case.
