A 17-year-old from Cyprus was hospitalized after being attacked during a festival in the Sitia area, where he is vacationing. The incident reportedly stemmed from the young man dancing with a girl, and police have arrested two minors from Albania, aged 16 and 17, in connection with the case.

According to patris.gr, the incident took place last Saturday night while a festival was underway in the area.

According to police sources, there had been no serious incident between the parties involved prior to the altercation. The 17-year-old Cypriot reportedly danced a “sousta” with a girl, and this, according to the same sources, is what provoked the reaction of the other two minors.

The situation then escalated, resulting in a brawl. The two minors allegedly attacked the 17-year-old, who was injured and taken to the hospital to receive first aid.

Doctors determined that hospitalization was not necessary, so the young man was discharged.

The two suspects, however, are said to have given different accounts of their involvement in the incident. According to reports, one admitted to striking the 17-year-old Cypriot, while the other claimed he intervened in the altercation in an attempt to break it up.

Despite their differing accounts of what happened, both minors were arrested by the police officers handling the case.
