The Ministry of Health will make 10,000 doses of the flu vaccine available to the private sector for the 2026–2027 period. The Pan-Cyprian Medical Association (PIS) welcomes the decision, which responds to the PIS’s calls to address the needs of doctors outside the General Health System (GeSY).
As noted in a press release, “in two letters, on October 9 and 12, 2026, we at the PIS had highlighted the supply issues in the private market due to delays in the production and procurement of flu vaccines, and in order to ensure equitable access and equitable distribution, we had requested the allocation of a quantity of the vaccines secured by the Ministry of Health.”
According to the written notification received today by the PIS, the allocation of 10,000 doses has been approved, and they are expected to be available within the next two weeks. To submit and process the relevant orders, doctors outside the General Healthcare System (GeSY) should contact the supplier directly.
The PIS thanks the Ministry of Health for its positive response and cooperation in finding a solution to an issue that affects patients’ access to the flu vaccine through their primary care physicianand emphasizes that “supporting the clinical work of all its members remains a constant priority for the PIS.”
The Medical Association emphasizes that “it will continue to take institutional action to address practical obstacles to the practice of medicine and to facilitate access for our patients.”
