This is the toothbrush of the future: With a 100,000-pixel camera and a jet… for mouthwash

What makes it unique is its built-in camera, which recognizes the spaces between the teeth in real time and directs a fine stream of mouthwash exactly where it's needed.

Dyson never stops redefining our daily habits. After beauty and home care, the company is now turning its attention to oral hygiene, introducing a technology that seems to have come straight from the future.

In Paris, James Dyson unveiled the new Dyson CameraJet™, an innovative electric toothbrush that aims to change the way we care for our teeth every day. Its unique feature is the built-in camera, which can identify the spaces between teeth in real time and automatically direct a thin stream of mouthwash exactly where it’s needed.

At the heart of the CameraJet™ is a 100,000-pixel macro camera, combined with machine learning technology. As the toothbrush moves through the mouth, the system analyzes the area in real time and identifies interdental spaces—the small gaps between teeth where plaque and debris can accumulate.

As soon as such a spot is identified, the device activates—in just 100 milliseconds—a specially designed conical jet of mouthwash. This integrates cleaning between the teeth into the brushing process, eliminating the need for a separate step.

But the innovation isn’t limited to the camera. The Dyson CameraJet™ also features sonic oscillation technology, which keeps the bristles of the brush head in constant motion even when they’re resting against the teeth.

According to Dyson, this technology is designed to remove more plaque from hard-to-reach areas compared to leading electric toothbrushes.

The result is a device that doesn’t treat brushing as a simple daily routine, but as a process that can be tailored to the needs of each individual’s mouth.

Another standout feature is the built-in mouthwash reservoir. Its design allows the device to function regardless of the angle at which the user holds it, while the base handles both refilling the reservoir and charging the toothbrush with the push of a button.

In this way, brushing, cleaning between teeth, and using mouthwash are combined into a single experience.

The Dyson CameraJet™ syncs with the MyDyson app™, adding yet another level of personalization. Through the app, users can view the camera’s live feed, essentially seeing what the toothbrush itself “sees.”

At the same time, the app offers instructions on proper brushing technique and personalized guidance, aimed at creating a more effective daily oral care routine.

And because this technology naturally raises questions about privacy, Dyson emphasizes that images from the camera are neither recorded nor stored, and that the relevant data remains private.

The CameraJet™ is the result of six years of research and development and offers a different approach to something as everyday as brushing your teeth.

Instead of simply adding yet another feature to an electric toothbrush, Dyson aims to combine different technologies into a single device: brushing, interdental care, and mouthwash.
