The body of Lily Ann Jones was found in Duffrin Park in Blaenau, South Wales, on June 22. Two days earlier, her parents had reported her missing.

The teenager had injuries to her chest and neck, a fact that was revealed today (July 6) during the hearing at the court in Gwent. A 14-year-old boy has been charged with Lily’s murder, according to the Daily Mail.

Coroner Caroline Saunders stated: “The cause of death was multiple stab wounds to the neck and torso.” Lily was last seen on the street in Blaina on the afternoon of June 20.

The 14-year-old accused of her murder appeared in court on June 29. Judge Tracy Lloyd-Clark announced that the trial will begin on November 23 and is expected to last four weeks.

The teenager, who did not enter a plea to the murder charge, was remanded in custody until his next court appearance.

Police described the teenager, who is from the Blaenau Gwent area of southeastern Wales, as a white British man.

Councilwoman Lisa Catherine Winnett had previously stated that the community was “shocked”: “My thoughts and prayers are with Lily’s family at this devastating and horrific time. I hope the police will act immediately to find the perpetrator.”
