British police announced that a 14-year-old has been charged with terrorism.
The charges are linked to far-right ideology and involve a conspiracy to carry out attacks against two mosques in south London.
The teenager was arrested last week for vandalizing a car. However, during the police investigation, documents were found that led to charges of preparatory acts intended to “carry out terrorist acts.”
“This is a very serious terrorism charge against a young boy, which is likely to cause great concern among the public and the local community,” said Helen Flanagan, head of London’s counterterrorism unit.
The police emphasize that they do not believe the case is linked to a broader terrorist threat, but they are prepared to step up security measures at mosques.
