The organizers of the Pride Parade, which was scheduled to take place in Paris this weekend, postponed the event due to high temperatures. This followed a recommendation from the police to reschedule the event to ease the strain on law enforcement and emergency services during the heat wave.
Organizers indicated that the event might be rescheduled for September.
In Hungary, where the Pride Parade was banned last year by former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, the organizers stated that the event will take place as scheduled on Saturday, but urged vulnerable individuals not to participate as a new heat wave warning has been issued.
In Paris, organizers were also asked to reschedule a music festival called Solidays.
Police stated that the participation of several hundred thousand people in such events would “pose a high risk of overburdening a healthcare system that has already reached its limits.”
The Pride Parade in the French city of Lyon was also canceled.
