The government announced emergency funding of 30 million yuan (3.9 million euros) for reconstruction efforts in the affected area, according to state-run CCTV.
Natural disasters of this kind are tragically common in China, especially in the summer, when some areas are hit by heavy rainfall, while others are sweltering under heat waves.
The landslide occurred as torrential rains and storms in central and southern China claimed the lives of at least 17 people and injured hundreds more.
Tens of thousands of residents had to be evacuated from their homes in Guangxi Province, according to state-run CCTV, after some 40 rivers and streams overflowed and a dam failed.
