Voters in the village of Keropalka in central Peru elected their new mayor, Hitler Mussolini Simeón Flores.
The candidate with the unusual name, who belongs to the center-left Ahora Nación party, won 34% of the vote. According to local media, the top three candidates were separated by a margin of just 42 votes.
Simeon’s candidacy application contains very little information and makes no mention of his name, other than the fact that he heads the Simeon Sac Investment Group.
There have been other politicians named Hitler. In 2018, also in Peru, Hitler defeated Lenin in another mayoral election, in the Yungar region, when Hitler Gesklin Alba Sánchez prevailed over Lenin Vladimir Rodríguez Valverde.
“I am the good Hitler,” Alba told television stations during his campaign, according to reports in the local media.
In Namibia, Adolf Hitler Ounona won the local elections last year for the fifth consecutive time.
“When I was a child, I thought it was a perfectly normal name,” Hitler Mussolini told the BBC.
