Voices Can Be Heard From the Rubble
A video posted by a Venezuelan journalist captures dramatic moments immediately after a building collapsed, with the voices of people believed to be trapped under the rubble clearly audible.

Rescue teams are continuing their search, while relatives and residents remain gathered at the scene, awaiting news on the fate of those missing.

The situation remains fluid regarding the exact number of victims, with rescue operations in full swing and information being updated continuously.

La Guaira at the epicenter of the disaster
The coastal state of La Guaira has emerged as the hardest-hit area, with authorities officially declaring it a “disaster zone”.

According to the country’s president, a large number of buildings collapsed completely, trapping an unknown number of people under the rubble.

“In the early hours of the morning, we maintained direct contact with the governor of La Guaira state and local authorities, as this is one of the hardest-hit areas and where rescue operations must be focused,” Rodriguez said.

At the same time, serious damage has also been reported in Caracas, where at least 10 buildings collapsed, while problems were reported with the power grid, telecommunications, and road networks.

The capital’s international airport also sustained significant damage and remains out of service.

The government has declared a state of emergency for the security services, the Fire Department, and Civil Protection, which are operating around the clock to locate trapped individuals and clear the rubble. At the same time, specialized teams and heavy equipment are being transported from other parts of the country to the affected areas.

Search efforts continue amid fears of aftershocks
Search and rescue operations are proceeding under extremely difficult conditions, as aftershocks continue and authorities fear further building collapses. Thousands of residents have fled their homes and are spending the night in open areas, fearing new strong tremors.

Rodríguez stated that she is in constant communication with the municipal and regional authorities of Greater Caracas in order to assess the extent of the damage in real time and coordinate emergency response efforts.

Meanwhile, international seismological organizations are warning that this is one of the strongest seismic sequences to have struck the country in more than a century, a fact that explains the extent of the destruction reported in many regions of northern Venezuela.

International Mobilization and Aid
Efforts
At the same time, the international community is mobilizing to support those affected.

According to official announcements and international media reports, the United States has already committed to sending search and rescue teams, medical personnel, and humanitarian aid, while coordination is underway for their immediate deployment to the affected areas.

At the same time, France, Germany, China, the Netherlands, Turkey, as well as several Latin American countries, including Mexico, El Salvador, Brazil, and Ecuador.

In addition, the United Nations has put its humanitarian response mechanisms on full alert, while certified search and rescue teams working with the UN are on their way to the country to reinforce local forces.

At the same time, the European Union has activated the Copernicus satellite program to assess the damage and map the areas most severely affected.

As rescuers continue to search for survivors beneath the rubble, authorities warn that the final death toll from the tragedy may be significantly higher, with the coming hours considered critical for rescuing those who remain trapped.
