The British Maritime Security Agency (UKMTO) stated that it received a report today regarding a ship, according to sources, the Greek-owned Minoan Dignity, which was struck by a projectile of unknown origin while sailing out of the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in damage to the engine room. According to reports, there is one casualty among the crew.
Maritime security sources identified the vessel to Reuters as the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Minoan Dignity, saying it was struck by a projectile of unknown origin while transiting the strategic sea lane.
The sources reported that the victim was the ship’s chief engineer. The remaining crew members received assistance from the Omani Coast Guard, according to the UKMTO. No environmental impacts were reported, and authorities are conducting an investigation.
