Police launched a major operation and today arrested a 43-year-old Swiss man on suspicion of being the perpetrator of the attack, according to police.

“Investigations into the exact circumstances of the incident, as well as the suspect’s background and possible motive, are currently underway. At this stage, it is believed that only one perpetrator was involved,” the Aargau cantonal police said in a statement.
The police announced yesterday that they are investigating three possible motives for the attack—mass murder, a terrorist act, or some other unknown criminal motive.
The shell casings found at the crime scene indicate bullets of two different calibers, likely from a pistol and a larger weapon, possibly a rifle, according to police.
