The Revolutionary Guards—Tehran’s ideological army—announced today that they had struck U.S. bases in Jordan, Bahrain, and Kuwait, according to the official IRNA news agency, while the U.S., for its part, announced that it had struck “dozens of targets” in Iran.
IRNA, citing the Revolutionary Guards, reported that attacks were carried out against Prince Hassan Air Base in Jordan, a U.S. command and control center for American drones in Bahrain, as well as the Ali al-Salem and Ahmad al-Jaber bases in Kuwait.
At least one person was killed and four others were injured in the early morning hours during a U.S. bombing raid on the city of Masar in southwestern Iran, according to a local official cited by the official IRNA news agency.
The U.S. bombed areas in the Strait of Hormuz; Iran responds with attacks on ships
The Middle East is entering a new cycle of tension, with the U.S. carrying out strikes against Iranian facilities in response to every action by Tehran that it deems to hinder free navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. For its part, Iran is targeting U.S. targets in the wider region, as well as commercial ships.
Early Monday morning, U.S. forces bombed a series of targets in cities in the Strait of Hormuz region (such as Bandar Abbas, Shirik, and Jask), as well as along the Persian Gulf coast and further inland (Bushehr).
These areas are of critical importance due to their geostrategic role, Al Jazeera reports, in terms of the influence Iran is seeking to exert in the Strait of Hormuz. In addition, they are home to radar stations and military installations.

As the wave of attacks continues, a CENTCOM spokesperson stated that “Revolutionary Guard forces opened fire on commercial ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. So far, U.S. aircraft have successfully shot down an Iranian cruise missile and an unmanned suicide drone.”
Iran’s response was to once again launch what it describes as “large-scale” ballistic missile and drone attacks against “hostile bases” in the wider Middle East region.

Sirens were heard in Bahrain, home to the Fifth Fleet, as well as in Jordan, where Iran had struck a base housing U.S. MQ-9 surveillance drones just yesterday. In fact, Jordan closed Amman Airport as a precautionary measure.
