The Iranian military announced today that it is offering a reward of $30,000 to anyone who kills or captures an American soldier. The reward for a woman who kills or captures a U.S. soldier is double that amount.
The chief of the Iranian Army General Staff, Amir Hatami, stated that the measure was decided upon following “a large number of requests” from people who wish to contribute financially,” the IRNA news agency reported.
“Anyone who kills or captures and hands over to the armed forces of the Islamic Republic an American military invader will receive a reward equal to 30,000, that is, five million tomans,” he said, using this unofficial currency unit equivalent to 10,000 rials.
Amir Hatami uses the term “invader” to imply that the scenario involves a violation of Iranian territory.
Apart from the pilot rescue mission in April, there has been no deployment of U.S. forces on Iranian territory during the war in the Middle East.
“The brave Iranian women who carry out such an action will receive double the reward,” he clarified.
