School Attack in Sweden: The perpetrator is said to have copied a 2015 attack on another school

The 18-year-old suspect was wearing black clothing, a German World War II helmet, and a mask over his face

One person (with no official mention of gender, though leaks suggest it was either a student or a teacher) lost their life, and three minors were injured following the attack at Brinell School in the city of Fagerstad. Two of them have been seriously injured.

An 18-year-old man is suspected of carrying out the attack. Armed with a sword, he reportedly stormed into the school where he was a student and launched the attack, according to Aftonbladet. About ten minutes after the attack, police shot him in the leg and arrested him.

The man was known to the police. He had previously been convicted of an attack at another school and was initially sentenced to time in a juvenile detention center, a sentence that was commuted to 25 days of community service.

He is alleged to have copied the Trollhättan killer

In recent hours, new details have emerged in the Swedish media about how the crime was committed. According to reports from Aftonbladet and other media outlets, the suspect in Fagerstad was dressed like Anton Ludin Peterson, who murdered three people in the 2015 school attack in Trollhättan (ed. Trollhättan) in 2015. He was wearing black clothing, a World War II helmet, and a mask covering his face.

He also made references to Breivik and other far-right serial killers, mainly from Scandinavia, as confirmed by La Repubblica.

Shortly after the attack, images of a sword began circulating from a TikTok account, which police are reportedly investigating even though the account has since been taken down. There are reportedly traces of the attack.

“Quiet and shy, with an interest in violence”

When police examined the suspect’s phone, they found the same photo of the sword, according to the Aftonbladet website. According to reports, the suspect is also said to have videotaped the crime. “The video is about 30 minutes long,” says a source.

Another Swedish website, Expressen, described the perpetrator—based on accounts from people who knew him—as “quiet and shy, with an interest in violence.” Expressen confirms the violent attack on a student on school grounds. A classmate of his said that “he was a little suspicious. A little strange. He hung out with people who were about four years younger than him.”

Another person describes him as “a victim of bullying and an outcast,” but also “aggressive and unpleasant.” Swedish media report the perpetrator’s interest in and support for the parties AfS (Alternative for Sweden) and the local Orebro Party (OP). Both Alternative for Sweden and the Örebro Party belong to the far right, though the OP is considered more of a populist far-right party than an extremist one.
