The army of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, which is backed by Saudi Arabia, reported that seven people, both military personnel and civilians, were killed and another 30 were wounded in an attack by the Shiite armed group Ansar Allah—also known by the surname of its leaders, the Houthis—which is aligned with Iran—against the city of Mocha, home to a port on the Red Sea, targeting military and civilian sites.
“Four members of the armed forces and three civilians were killed, and another 30 were wounded,” the army of the internationally recognized government reported in the early morning hours.
Air defense forces intercepted and shot down 11 unmanned aerial vehicles launched by the rebels, according to the same source.
Footage broadcast by Al-Masirah TV, a network affiliated with Ansar Allah, shows missiles being launched and drones ascending into the sky. According to Yahya Saria, the Shiite movement’s spokesperson on military affairs, the targets were concentrations of Saudi troops and weapons and ammunition depots.
The army of the internationally recognized government claimed that the Houthis also targeted residential neighborhoods in Mocha.
