U.S. President Donald Trump announced via the Truth Social platform that White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt will be stepping down at the end of the month.
Levitt, 30, who recently became a mother for the second time, decided to step down from her position to spend more time with her family. On May 1, she gave birth to a baby girl, and she also has a two-year-old son.
In a statement, Levitt thanked Trump for the trust he had placed in her and explained that, after returning to work following the birth of her daughter, she found it difficult to meet both the demands of her position and the needs of her two young children as well as she would have liked.
As she noted, the decision was “bittersweet,” but she believes it marks the beginning of a new chapter in her life.
