On Monday, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan called on the U.S. to make greater use of its influence over Israel in order to put an end, as he put it, policies that undermine peace and stability in the Middle East and beyond.
“We expect the U.S. to further leverage its influence on Israel to put an end to its policies that harm regional and global peace and stability,” said the Turkish foreign minister.
Hakan Fidan’s remarks were made during a panel discussion titled “Turkey-U.S. Relations Enter Their 100th Year,” organized by the Communications Directorate of the Turkish Presidency in New York.
The Turkish foreign minister argued that the interrelated threats in the region could derail the joint efforts by Ankara and Washington to strengthen security and stability.
