Wanted notice for a Ukrainian citizen named Anastasia Berezovskaya, who is wanted for her alleged involvement in the attempted murder of Ukrainian businessman Vadim Germolaev in Monaco earlier this week, has been issued by Interpol. It should be noted that he is a Ukrainian oligarch holding a Cypriot passport.

The International Police Organization’s notice was published on the organization’s website on the morning of Friday, July 3.

According to the information released, Anastasia Berezovskaya is 39 years old. She was born in Ukraine and holds Ukrainian citizenship. The suspect has a tattoo on her right hand and speaks German.

As reported, authorities are seeking her for a series of offenses, including “attempted murder,” “criminal intent to place an explosive device on a public road,” and “participation in a criminal organization.”

The French newspaper Le Figaro noted that the Monaco public prosecutor’s office has taken over the investigation, while in a previous report it stated that Berezovskaya lives in Germany.

“Armed and dangerous”

Earlier reports had identified the main suspect in the Monaco bombing as a woman from Ukraine described as “armed and dangerous.”

Monaco’s Attorney General, Stéphane Thibault, confirmed on Thursday that the suspect in the attack is a Ukrainian woman in her 30s who appears to be a resident of Germany. “An arrest warrant has been issued for the suspect, and an Interpol Red Notice will be issued for her starting tonight,” he said.

A source close to the investigation reported that the woman allegedly “tried to look like a man” during the attack but was identified by a witness.

According to the same sources, she is likely on the run with her accomplices in Italy, and it cannot be ruled out that she may have even reached the Balkans.

The main suspect is said to have targeted 58-year-old billionaire Vadim Germolaev, his 46-year-old partner Anna Nasobina, and their 13-year-old son, on Monday night.

The woman, whose name has not been released, was captured on camera outside “Sun’s Palace,” the luxury residential complex owned by Germolaev.

The explosion occurred shortly before 9:00 p.m. at the building’s entrance, when an abandoned backpack detonated, after the woman reportedly triggered the device using a cell phone.

Nasobina had both her legs amputated following the explosion, while both she and Germolayev suffered serious injuries from shrapnel and burns.

She entered France and from there, left for Italy

“The main suspect was identified by a witness. She is a Ukrainian woman around 30 years old,” said a source close to the investigation. Security camera footage showed the woman, wearing a black hat, fleeing on foot toward France, crossing the border where there are no checkpoints.

According to investigators, she traveled to the French town of Bosoleil and then headed toward Italy. “She is armed and dangerous, and is believed to be with accomplices. She must be approached with extreme caution,” the same source said.

Judicial authorities in France and Monaco have launched an investigation into “attempted murder,” “placing an explosive device in a public place with criminal intent,” and “criminal conspiracy.”

Security cameras first captured the suspect in the area on Monday morning, before she returned later to plant the bomb. Authorities estimate that she was about 12 meters away when she detonated the explosive device.

The 13-year-old has recovered and is testifying

The couple’s injured son has recovered quickly and is already giving statements to police and judicial authorities. “He is describing exactly what he saw, although his memories are obviously hazy,” a security source said. “It appears that his mother bore the brunt of the explosion, while he suffered relatively minor burns and shrapnel wounds.”

Anna Nasobina has been described as Germolaev’s partner. She is a Ukrainian citizen from the city of Dnipro, where he is also from, and spends much of her time in England.

She states that she is based in London and, since 2023, has been listed as the director of Wycombe Square Investments LLP, while she often resides in Monaco, mainly during the summer months.

She is the daughter of a former high-ranking prosecutor in the Dnipropetrovsk region and studied law at Dnipropetrovsk National University and subsequently at aninternational management institute, before settling in London.

Nasobina is also a co-founder of Club Eclectique, a private members’ club with a cultural and literary focus, which was founded in 2016 and has locations in London and Monaco.

Authorities believe the suspect likely used a so-called “burner phone,” that is, a cheap, single-use cell phone purchased without identification and often used for criminal activities before being discarded.

Prosecutor Stéphane Thibault stated: “We are trying to arrest the suspect.” Police and French military helicopters equipped with searchlights, as well as drones, are participating in the investigations, which have been ongoing since the day of the attack.

Although there are theories about the possible involvement of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), the most likely scenario according to investigators at this time is that this was a “settling of scores” by criminal networks.

The explosion marks the first attack of its kind in Monaco, one of the world’s most well-known tax havens, which is considered neutral and particularly safe territory.

“He had enemies; he was living on the edge”

Germolaev is said to have made many enemies over the years, and one of the reasons he moved to Monaco was the security he believed it offered him. Ukrainian businessman Seyar Kursutov, a friend of Germolaev’s, told Le Monde that the billionaire was “obsessed with security.” “Vadim was living on a knife’s edge,” he said.

French authorities are examining various scenarios, including financial disputes, organized crime, and potential conflicts linked to Germolaev’s business past.

Like many oligarchs who amassed their fortunes after the collapse of the Soviet Union, he has at times faced allegations of illegal activities, which he denies.

According to reports, he has been living in Monaco since 2021. In 2019, he renounced his Ukrainian citizenship and obtained a Cypriot passport, and in December 2023, Kyiv imposed personal sanctions on him.

France is assisting in the investigation to locate the suspect. An aide to French Interior Minister Laurent Nunes stated that the police are working to “find the perpetrator, who has fled.”
