Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented each head of state of a NATO member country with a weapon engraved with their name, a message about the Alliance’s defensive capabilities.
According to Global Affairs Canada, each NATO leader received a pistol along with a box of live ammunition.

“All official gifts are handled in accordance with applicable Canadian laws, security requirements, and government policies,” the organization stated.
It is a pistol engraved with each leader’s name, which was presented as a souvenir at the NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey. According to a BBC News report, the firearm is a revolver.

Erdoğan also handed each leader a note in which he personally waived Turkish export controls on the weapon system in question, an unusual move, as reported by Turkiye Today.
The gifts were presented on the sidelines of the 36th NATO Summit, held on July 7–8 at the Presidential Palace in Ankara, Turkey, marking the first NATO summit hosted by Turkey since the one in Istanbul in 2004.
