A pilot chose a striking way to express his annoyance at a test flight of an aircraft over England and Wales after a part had been replaced.
As seen in a photo published by the website Flightradar24, the pilot “spelled out” the phrase “I am bored” with the aircraft’s flight path.
According to flight data, the Ravenair Piper Tomahawk took off from Liverpool at 11:25 a.m. on Saturday. During a two-hour flight, it flew over North Wales, where the message “I’m bored” was clearly visible.
The pilot spent about 20 minutes forming the seven-letter phrase, prompting flight trackers to say “I’ve never seen a pilot say he’s bored by writing it in the sky.”
The message was created at an altitude of approximately 335 meters (1,100 feet), at a speed of just under 100 knots, according to Flightradar24.
The airline stated that the pilot was a flight instructor with 20 years of experience, and the director of operations, Wayne Barrett, who said the pilot would face no consequences and praised him for his flying skills. “I think the pilot was literally a little bored, since it was just a test flight. But I have to admit that he flew with great skill. He may have been a little bored, but in the end he had to concentrate very hard to form the words, so I guess he wasn’t just bored,” he told the BBC.
