In a post on Saturday, Ms. von der Leyen said that there can be no peace in the Middle East “with Lebanon in flames,” while thanking the U.S. for its mediation.
The main next steps, she says, are the disarmament of non-state groups and the preservation of Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The EU, he notes, is ready to support this path toward lasting regional stability, including, among other things, the continued provision of necessary humanitarian aid, with 100 million euros mobilized for the displaced.
