Hundreds of rescuers took part last night, Wednesday, in the frantic efforts to pull a 43-year-old man—who is still alive—from the rubble, one week after a seven-story apartment building collapsed due to the two extremely deadly and devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela, according to a correspondent for Agence France-Presse.

Hernán Gil, a security guard, was trapped inside the booth where he worked when the building collapsed in Catia La Mar, a coastal area that suffered massive destruction during the earthquakes of June 24, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 on the Richter scale, claiming the lives of more than 2,000 people, according to the still-preliminary official death toll.
