The standoff between the U.S. and Iran is escalating once again, as the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the Iranian oil tanker M/T Kylo was destroyed and sank in the Gulf of Oman.
The attack is part of U.S. operations against three Iranian oil tankers, which Washington presented as a response to the ballistic missile attacks launched by Iran against two U.S. warships.
The Kylo “at the bottom of the sea”
According to CENTCOM, the M/T Kylo, also known as “Noxen,” was unloaded when it was targeted in the Gulf of Oman. U.S. forces struck the ship in multiple critical locations after its crew had been ordered to abandon ship.
The U.S. military command also posted a video on social media, which, according to the command, shows the oil tanker engulfed in flames and then sinking.

The U.S. Response to Attacks on Warships
CENTCOM announced that, in addition to the Kylo, U.S. forces struck two more Iranian oil tankers. According to the U.S. side, the M/T Downy and M/T Stark 1 were permanently taken out of service, while the Kylo was completely destroyed.
The U.S. claims that the three ships were part of a network that finances the Revolutionary Guards and their regional allies.
