Top U.S. government officials responsible for national security held a secret meeting at the U.S. president’s summer residence at Camp David to discussthe next steps in the war against Iran and the Shiite Houthi rebels in Yemen, three U.S. officials told the news website Axios.
According to Axios, the meeting was chaired by U.S. Vice President Jay D. Vance, while noting that the Donald Trump administration did not announce this unusual meeting.
The last time such a meeting took place was in June 2025, a few days before the war between Israel and Iran broke out, the website noted.
Among the officials who participated in the meeting were Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegese, White House Envoy Steve Whitecoff, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Kane.

The White House declined to comment on the reports.
As negotiations with Tehran to end the war have reached an impasse, Trump is considering launching a new, large-scale military operation against Iran, Axios reported.
“Now I have to make a decision: either Iran will sign the agreement, or it will no longer exist,” the U.S. president said on Thursday.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia is asking Trump to participate in a planned operation against the Houthis in Yemen. The Saudis are calling on the U.S. to launch airstrikes against the Shiite rebels, but the U.S. president does not seem willing to do so at this point.
Yesterday, Friday afternoon, reporters asked Trump what his administration’s next move would be in the war with Iran. “If I told you, it would be big news. But you’ll see. It’s going very well. Iran isn’t doing well,” he replied.
