A new batch of UFO-related images and videos was released on Friday (August 7) by the Pentagon, including a military pilot’s testimony about a huge, strange triangular object that blocked out the stars over Afghanistan in 2002.
The 41 new files, which were posted on the Pentagon’s UFO website, include a mix of documents, images, and videos. The material comes from the Pentagon, the FBI, the CIA, the State Department, and the Office of the President, with the oldest file dating back to 1950 and the most recent from this year.
This release marks the fifth consecutive release of material under an executive order signed by President Trump in January, directing the military and other agencies to release more documents related to UFOs.
What do the new UFO files contain?
Most of the material released on Friday (August 7) consists of low-resolution videos—a hallmark of previous releases— that show flying objects recorded by military sensors and cameras.
Six of the videos present different versions of the same incident: an encounter involving special operations forces aboard an AC-130J-type ground-attack aircraft (gunship) over the Gulf of Oman in September 2021. These are videos shot on a cell phone that focus on the aircraft’s displays, showing objects detected by the aircraft’s infrared sensors and other detection systems.
An accompanying intelligence report sheds further light on the footage. The report stated that the personnel aboard the armed aircraft “observed approximately 25 incidents involving Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP) during a live-fire exercise in the Gulf of Oman.”
A clip submitted by U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) shows footage recorded from a military aircraft over a populated area in the Middle East, in 2025. The video shows what appears to be an object crossing the screen at high speed. The incident remains unexplained.
One of the testimonies given to an FBI agent refers to a triangular object over Afghanistan that was seen by an Air Force pilot. “At approximately 4:30 a.m. local time, he noticed that the stars above Bagram began to be obscured. It looked like something enormous was passing overhead, moving from west to east, shaped like an equilateral triangle. “The object moved silently, at a constant speed and altitude—probably 150 knots—with no visible lights,” the agent wrote.
The pilot “estimated its size to be 150 meters, but could not fully make out the object’s shape.” As the other pilot who was with him added, “he also saw the triangle, and as it passed overhead, he said, ‘Did you see that?’”
