Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the IDF struck a Syrian military base, after Jerusalem had repeatedly warned Damascus about the Turkish military presence in the country.
In his first remarks following the Israeli attack on Syria on Tuesday, Netanyahu stated in a post on X on Wednesday that Israel “sent a clear message: Don’t do it.”
“We will not tolerate the deployment of Turkish military forces in Syria in a way that threatens Israel,” he said.
“Apparently, they didn’t hear it clearly enough, so we made sure they understood it better.”
The head of the Israeli General Staff, Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, warned on Wednesday during his visit to southern Syria that Israel would not allow hostile forces to establish a presence near its borders and that it would use its military force wherever and whenever necessary.
During the visit, Zamir was briefed on the operational situation and toured southern Syria. He also met with reservists serving in the area and expressed his appreciation for their service and efforts.
“We are operating in a multi-front environment, where challenges are constantly changing and evolving, and the Syrian front is one of them,” he said.
“We are monitoring the situation and following developments on the Syrian front, and we must prepare accordingly. We will not allow hostile forces to establish a presence on our borders, and we will know how to use our strength with precision, wherever and whenever necessary.”
