Trump threatens Iran: “1,000 missiles are ready if you touch me”

It issues an ultimatum to Tehran to stop the attacks in the Strait of Hormuz

In the early hours of Saturday (Greek time), Donald Trump returned to the speculation surrounding Iran’s alleged plan to kill him, even going so far as to threaten Tehran that if it “touches” him, he has ordered 1,000 missiles to strike the Islamic Republic.

Meanwhile, according to Axios, the Trump administration has issued an ultimatum to Tehran to publicly acknowledge that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and to commit to ceasing attacks on commercial ships.

“1,000 missiles are locked and loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, with thousands more to follow immediately, if the Iranian government acts on its threat—voiced in many corners of the globe—to murder, or attempt to murder, the sitting President of the United States of America—in this case, ME!” emphasized U.S. President Donald Trump in a post on Truth Social.

“Orders have already been given, and the U.S. Army is ready, willing and able, for a period of one year—subject to extension—to completely decimate and destroy all regions of Iran,” he emphasized in his post.

It should be noted that this followed reports in American newspapers, such as the Wall Street Journal, which reported that Israel had provided the U.S. with information that Iran was considering a plan to assassinate Donald Trump, noting that Tehran has repeatedly vowed in recent years to take revenge on Trump for the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, the top general of the Revolutionary Guards, during the U.S. president’s first term.

Meanwhile, a report by Axios states that the Trump administration is demanding that Iran publicly acknowledge that the Strait of Hormuz remains open and commit to it will cease attacks on commercial ships.

The message has been conveyed both directly and through regional mediators, according to three U.S. officials who briefed reporters on Friday.

It should be noted that today, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Omani Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi, are expected to meet on Saturday in Muscat to discuss the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz.

As Axios has reported in recent weeks, even before the signing of the U.S.-Iran Memorandum of Understanding, Oman had aligned itself with the United States and its Gulf allies, opening a southern maritime corridor near its coast so that ships could pass through the Strait.

Iran was outraged, viewing this move as weakening its negotiating position. U.S. officials claim that Iranian negotiators told them that radical elements within the regime opened fire on ships in an attempt to regainnegotiating leverage.

A U.S. official reported that the Iranians contacted the U.S. government after two days of clashes earlier in the week and requested new talks. “They told us: ‘We messed up. We were wrong. Let’s keep talking,’” the official claimed.

The same U.S. official added that an internal dispute is underway within the Iranian regime regarding the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding and the next steps in negotiations with the T.

“There are elements within their system that want to reach an agreement, but we cannot make decisions on their behalf. They need to get their house in order,” he said.

According to Axios, the United States expects Iran to issue a statement following Saturday’s meeting in Oman. “We want them to publicly declare that they will stop firing on ships and to explicitly—or at least implicitly—acknowledge that they were wrong. We are currently working toward that end,” said a U.S. official. “We also expect the Iranians to state that every maritime lane in the Strait will remain open and that passage will be allowed without the imposition of tolls or other fees.”

A second U.S. official warned that there would be serious consequences if Iran refused: “If that is not their position, then it will not be a good day for them.”
