Donald Trump assured today that the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, will not be arrested in the U.S., two days after remarks made by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who discussed the legal possibility of arresting the Israeli prime minister during the United Nations General Assembly in September.
“Benjamin Netanyahu will not be arrested, under any circumstances, while he is in the U.S.,” the U.S. president wrote on Truth Social, praising Netanyahu’s role in the war against Iran, while making no mention of the mayor of New York City.

Mamdani stated in an interview published Saturday in The New York Times that “Prime Minister Netanyahu’s place is in The Hague. He is a war criminal wanted on an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court.”
Netanyahu traditionally travels to New York every September for the annual meeting of world leaders at the United Nations General Assembly. The International Criminal Court has issued an arrest warrant for the Israeli prime minister for alleged war crimes committed during the war in Gaza. Israel rejects the court’s jurisdiction and denies committing war crimes.
