The “no” vote prevailed in Iceland’s referendum on resuming accession negotiations with the European Union, according to the final official results of the referendum that were released.
In response to the question “Should Iceland resume negotiations to join the European Union?”, 52.8% of Icelanders answered “no” and 47.2% “yes” in the referendum held yesterday, Saturday, according to the official tally broadcast by the public television network RÚV after all ballots had been counted.
