It’s all on the line for Netanyahu

With 29 days left until the election, the political climate remains uncertain
ALPHANEWSLIVE

With only 29 days remaining until the Israeli parliamentary elections on October 27, the political climate remains fluid.

As ALPHA Cyprus’s Middle East analyst, Gabriel Charitos, speaking on the main newscast, due to the country’s electoral system, it will not be known the day after the election who the new prime minister of Israel will be, but only once the process of exploratory mandates to form a coalition government has been completed.

At the same time, there are growing indications that in these elections, the Likud is expected to face a problem with voter consolidation, as former party officials have formed smaller parties operating on the ideological right.

Opinion polls are inconclusive, and the media is critical

Meanwhile, the polls do little to clarify the situation. Specifically, although many polls have been published, they are all based on a relatively small sample size with a margin of error ranging from 4% to 4.5%, while the minimum threshold for entering the Knesset is 3.75%, which corresponds to 4 seats.

Some polls place Benjamin Netanyahu in first place and others place Gadi Eizenkot in first place, but in every poll, the difference between the two is very small and falls within the margin of error.

Gabriel Charitos emphasized that the current volatility characterizing the pre-election period is, by common admission, unprecedented by local standards, taking into account previous elections in the country from the late 1980s to the present.

As for the local media, Gabriel Charitos noted that none of the widely circulated daily newspapers clearly supports Netanyahu, while of the five largest television stations, only one supports Netanyahu, Likud, and the other right-wing parties in the coalition.
