The residents of Iceland and a large portion of Spain’s population, as well as many tourists who have flocked to these two countries, had the opportunity to witness the solar eclipse that was visible today, Wednesday.
In Iceland, the phenomenon was 100% visible at approximately 8:45 p.m. (Greek time), and in Spain at approximately 9:30 p.m. (8:30 p.m. local time).
In Greece, the eclipse was barely visible and only partial in areas of the northwest, such as Corfu (2.34% coverage), Igoumenitsa (1.29%), Konitsa, Kastoria, and Florina. The coverage of the solar disk, occurring almost simultaneously with sunset (around 8:30 p.m.), was very small and difficult to perceive.
NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), as well as major news agencies and media outlets, covered the phenomenon with live video feeds.
