“Many people lost their lives (…) Many others have been injured,” the canton’s police reported via the X platform, without providing further details about the circumstances of the accident or the nationalities of the victims.
Footage broadcast by local media shows rescuers working frantically around the bus, which had overturned on the side of the road. Helicopters had landed nearby. Police confirmed that “multiple rescue services” had been mobilized.
According to Swiss media, the bus belongs to the Dutch tour operator Oad, which organizes trips throughout Europe.
Chernetz is the “gateway” to the Swiss National Park, a large Alpine region covering approximately 170 square kilometers with a network of trails stretching over 100 kilometers in the Engadin Alpine valley.
