Pope Leo XIV remains hospitalized at Gemelli Hospital in Rome, following surgery he underwent on October 13 to remove a tumor from his lung; his doctors appear satisfied with the progress of his recovery.
According to the latest medical bulletin, the tests the Pontiff underwent were normal, while the chest X-ray showed that the operated lung is recovering satisfactorily. The Pope was also able to carry out his daily activities on his own, while participating in a full physical therapy program.
“The tests conducted this morning were within normal limits. The chest X-ray confirmed the good recovery of the operated lung. The Pope carried out his daily activities independently and completed the physical therapy program. “Overall, his postoperative recovery is proceeding smoothly,” the medical statement said.
Meanwhile, the director of the Vatican Press Office, Matteo Bruni, announced that the Pope has already returned to his duties, despite the fact that he remains hospitalized.
