Houthi rebels launched an attack today on the city of Mocha on the Red Sea coast —which is under the control of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, supported by Saudi Arabia — resulting in the deaths of at least six people, according to the Agence France-Presse (AFP), citing information from a military official.
The Iran-backed Houthi rebels “fired five missiles at commercial ships unloading at the port, and two ships were engulfed in flames,” the official told AFP.
The Houthis reported that they launched a ballistic missile attack against military infrastructure belonging to Saudi Arabia-backed forces and “mercenaries” in Mocha, destroying vessels and weapons, Reuters reports.
Earlier, the Houthis announced that they had launched a drone attack against facilities belonging to the oil giant Aramco in the city of Najran, in the southwestern part of Saudi Arabia.According to the Houthis, the attack was launched in retaliation for violations of Yemeni airspace by Saudi fighter jets.
