Series of explosions in Aleppo, Syria

Violent incidents are on the rise in the country
ALPHANEWSLIVE

A loud explosion was heard in the early morning hours not far from the city of Aleppo, in northern Syria, followed by a series of others, according to state media, following several bloody incidents earlier this month.

“An explosion was heard in the al-Ais area, in the southern part of the Aleppo governorate,” state television reported, adding that “an investigation is underway into the nature of the incident.”

According to Faisal Mohammad Ali, head of civil defense operations in Aleppo, as quoted by the state-run Al-Ikhbariya network, “explosions are continuing in the al-Ais area, in southern Aleppo, preventing ambulances and rescue teams from accessing” the area.

Several explosions had already been reported this month in Syria, which endured thirteen years of civil war that ended with the fall of Bashar al-Assad in December 2024.

On Friday, 11 people were killed in an explosion of as yet undetermined cause at a military facility in Deir ez-Zor, according to the de facto authorities.

On September 9, an explosion at a Ministry of Defense weapons depot killed 14 people and injured 11 others in the province of Idlib, in the northwestern part of the country.

In the same region, ten days earlier, an explosion in a vehicle loaded with ammunition had claimed the lives of five people.
