An earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale struck Colombia today, according to the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).
Earlier, the EMSC had reported the earthquake’s magnitude as 6.8.
The earthquake had a focal depth of 115 km, according to the source.
Colombia’s geological survey agency measured the earthquake at 6.7 on the Richter scale, noting that the epicenter was in the province of Chocó, on the Pacific coast.
Eyewitnesses speaking to Reuters said that the earthquake, which occurred early this morning, shook the capital, Bogotá. The tremor was felt as far as the border with Venezuela.
