The Jordanian Armed Forces intercepted four Iranian missiles in the country's airspace, a source within the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces said today.
Jordan’s air defense systems “intercepted and shot down four missiles that penetrated Jordanian airspace early Tuesday morning, originating from Iranian territory,” without causing any casualties or property damage, the source clarified.
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps, for its part, announced that a U.S. air base in Jordan was targeted today by Iranian ballistic missiles and called on the Jordanian people to dismantle the U.S. bases in their country.
“You know very well that not only do we harbor no hostility toward your country, but we love you, the noble people, who understand the pain and oppression of the Palestinian people more than any other nation,” according to a statement by the Revolutionary Guards broadcast by the Iranian news agency Fars.
Furthermore, Iran rescued 23 foreign crew members after a bulk carrier collided with another vessel north of Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, the semi-official Iranian news agency Fars reported today.
The freighter sustained serious damage to its hull and began taking on water, prompting the captain to order an emergency evacuation of the ship, Fars reported, adding that all crew members were safely transported to the island of Qeshm.
