The international airport and seaport in Aqaba, in southern Jordan, were evacuated due to a “specific and credible threat,” the U.S. Embassy in Amman said today.
“We strongly advise all Americans to avoid traveling to either the airport or the port. Continue to follow all security instructions from the Jordanian authorities,” the embassy said, without providing further details.
Meanwhile, air raid sirens sounded today in Bahrain, which for days has been the target of Iranian attacks against neighboring countries that are U.S. allies, according to the Ministry of the Interior and an Agence France-Presse reporter.
“The sirens have been activated. Citizens and residents are urged to remain calm and proceed to the nearest safe location,” the ministry said in a statement. An AFP reporter reported that sirens were heard in Bahrain’s capital, Manama.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards stated today that two ships were involved in an “accident” after attempting to transit the Strait of Hormuz via a “dangerous route”, while two other ships abandoned that route, according to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency.
The Revolutionary Guards stated that the four ships ignored Iranian warnings and acted with U.S. support. “Ships that are swayed by American rhetoric and enter dangerous routes will inevitably face accidents,” the Revolutionary Guards warned in a statement.
