“That’s it. The ceasefire is over.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
In front of the Financial Times camera, Volodymyr Zelenskyy put an end to the energy truce and, without wasting any time, resumed the attacks, this time striking an oil refinery in the Russian region of Ryazan.
This development was, perhaps, to be expected, as Putin’s forces never stopped striking Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, despite the U.S. President’s proclamations.
“For three days, we did not strike any energy or oil infrastructure in Russia. And for three days, they have been attacking us. We have no alternative. We must fight.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
With Moscow, which had remained silent, now demanding even more.
“The intense efforts [of the U.S.] have failed… due to the refusal of the Kyiv regime and Zelenskyy himself to seek peace.”
Dmitry Peskov – Kremlin Spokesperson
“Betrayal”
The Ukrainian president feels disappointment and betrayal; in two scathing interviews, he did not hesitate to openly criticize Washington’s willingness to lift Russia’s economic isolation. And specifically, Trump’s energy “alliance” with Putin, which is expected to be sealed in due course with the signing of contracts, so that the first shipments of millions of metric tons of Russian oil can begin within the next two weeks.
“-(Trump is caught in the middle). But when you’re caught in the middle, you have to stay in the middle. I don’t know who’s pushing him to the wrong side. That, in any case, isn’t the right side of history.
“Do you feel betrayed by what’s happening?
” “Honestly, yes. Honestly, between you and me. It’s a shame we’re losing a strong ally.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
At the Brink
The rift between Trump and Zelenskyy is deepening dangerously, as evidenced by the reduced U.S. support for Kyiv, which has been left to its own devices in recent days.
The Ukrainian armed forces are no longer receiving timely warnings about the deadly—as it turns out—ballistic missile strikes against them, while the Starlink military satellite network is slowing down across the country, hindering both intercepts and frontline operations.
“Starlink deliberately reduced its speed. It wasn’t a technical problem. It was a matter of will. We understand what’s going on, because we’ve seen it everywhere.”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
An attempt by the U.S., as he alleges, to tie the Ukrainians’ hands by any means necessary.
“And I ask: can you give me Patriot missiles? Because since I won’t attack them—since you asked me not to… they will attack me. And while I’m asking for this, the response is to block Starlink. So how am I supposed to handle this?”
Volodymyr Zelenskyy
The harsh response came from Elon Musk, the creator of Starlink.
“It’s time for Zelenskyy to go. Any restrictions on Starlink’s speed or use are determined by the U.S. military and, ultimately, by the President of the United States.”
Elon Musk – Founder of SpaceX
The Ukrainian President arrived in Brussels this afternoon to meet tomorrow with the 27 European leaders, who are expected to ask him to tone down his rhetoric toward Washington so as not to cause irreparable damage.
